SchloR – The Project I HabiTAT
SchloR is conceived as a small town within the city. The site, covering around 3,000 m², comprises existing buildings that have been preserved, renovated, extended and, in parts, rebuilt on the existing foundations. Around 20 people live and work here, organising and managing the site collectively. The focus is on creating affordable work and living space. In terms of urban planning, SchloR combines work, culture and housing. Economically, the project challenges traditional financing and refinancing models; ecologically, it pushes boundaries in terms of the careful use of materials with a high degree of self-build. SchloR is a place protected from real estate investment speculation, which exemplifies how ecological construction and communal living can go hand in hand.
